Fischer Farms appoints new Chairman

Fischer Farms is delighted to have strengthened its team with the appointment of John Stapleton, as it continues to blaze a trail for the future of sustainable and responsible farming.

John, who has led the way in the food production sector for almost 35-years, joins as Non-Executive Chairman. He will play an instrumental role in helping Fischer Farms achieve its long-term mission of helping to feed the world using vertical farming technology.

Due to a growing population and depleting natural resources, food production has an unsustainable future. New and cost-effective ways of feeding the world need to be found. Fischer Farms mission is to deliver a scalable solution and contribute to making food production sustainable once more.

With a strong track record of creating and growing successful food and drink brands, John will support Fischer Farms in scaling its operations and reducing its cost base to deliver significant volumes of UK-grown produce at a price point that compares favourably to global commodity prices.

This forms part of Fischer Farms 10-to-20-year plan, which starts now with the production of short leafy greens (salad and herbs) and expands ultimately into growing rice, soya beans and wheat – all in large-scale vertical farms, powered by solar energy.

John is the perfect fit for Fischer Farms, sharing the team’s passion and vision for a responsible and sustainable food chain. His previous experience has seen him co-found numerous global fresh food brands, including The New Covent Garden Soup Co, Glencoe Foods Inc, and Little Dish.

He is also resident business advisor to Bord Bia’s entrepreneurial start-up programme in Ireland and is investor-director at Mission Ventures, a progressive business accelerator designed to help build successful challenger brands in the UK.

John joins an incredibly talented team, built from the ground up who are experts in this revolutionary form of farming. His appointment demonstrates Fischer Farms ongoing commitment to scalable vertical farming and will ensure longevity for this sustainable business model.

The team look forward to working closely with John in this incredibly exciting chapter for Fischer Farms.
